Full Description
The concrete bases of four RADAR receiver masts are visible as structures on aerial photographs from 1941 onwards, centred on circa TM43274864, TM43294866, TM43324859 and TM43344861, on Orfordness, Orford parish (S1). The masts were part of Sir Robert Watson-Watts early development work in Radio Direction Finding, later to be known as RADAR, and were direct precursors of the Chain Home (C.H.) system (see ORF 021).
