Monument record NAC 085 - Possible Prehistoric or Roman trackway and other linear features.

A possible Later Prehistoric or Roman trackway and other linear ditched features of unknown date are visible as cropmarks of ditches on an aerial photograph, centred on TM 22124122 to the south of the railway in Nacton and Purdis Farm parishes. The possible Later Prehistoric or Roman trackway runs for around 420m on a north-west to south-east orientation, similar but to the south of the railway. Other linear ditches, including another possible trackway centred on TM 41222192, appear to abut the first trackway at right-angles. The relationship between these features is unclear. The trackway is very similar in nature and alignment to a substantial stretch of trackway in Stratton Hall and Levington parishes (see SNH 005 for details.) (S1)
An additional circa 240 metres of trackway is visible as an intermittent cropmark to the west of the area described above, partly obscured by areas of deeper soils and the remains of possible quarry pits (S2).
