Full Description
A possible military structure of World War II date is visible on aerial photographs of 1945 centred roughly on TM38054673 in Boyton parish (S1). The feature is visible about 380m to the north-west of Boyton Hall farm, in a field on the western side of a track that leads onto Mill Lane to the north. The possible structure may be a tent circa 7 x 7m in size. It is unclear from the photographs what function the structure performed, but it may be associated with another probable military site about 40m to the south on the other side of the track (see BOY 039). They are possibly related to the military training sites or coastal anti-invasion defences that are visible in this area. Alternatively, the features may simply be hay ricks, but at this time the possibility of disguised military features cannot be discounted.
