Monument record HRK 073 - Probable Post Medieval field boundaries, visible as cropmarks.

Probable Post Medieval field boundaries are visible as cropmarks of ditches on aerial photographs, centred on TM 19453391 in fields to the east of Nether Hall, Harkstead. The ditches probably represent the position of fences or hedges that have been removed and appear to fit into the modern pattern of land use. The Post Medieval field boundaries cross other linear field boundary features that are arranged on a different alignment and may be of Later Prehistoric or Roman date (HRK 072). One probable Post Medieval field boundary cuts across the middle of a possible Prehistoric settlement (HRK 007). A number of small rectangular pits are also visible at TM 19453390. These appear to be aligned upon the probable Post Medieval field boundary and therefore have been interpreted as small gravel pits and have not been recorded. (S1-S3)
