Full Description
Site of Boulge Hall, said to have been burnt down in 1923 (S1) but is shown on OS 6 inch map (S2) and was still standing when it was offered for sale in 1945. Was in fact demolished in 1955 (S5).
For landscape park around hall- see BOU 009.
House built by William Whitby (d.1792)(S4).
House later owned by FitzGerald and White families.
N.B. The reference to a fire in 1923 actually relates to Boulge Cottage, a cottage (ornee) in the park that was built c.1800 for Mrs Eleanor Short (widow of Wm Whitby). The cottage was rebuilt and extended and is now called Boulge House.
