Grade II-listed timber-framed and thatched house

Excavation identified peat accumulated between AD 230 and AD440 and AD760 and AD990, a footpath along the side of the Black Ditch.

1995: Monitoring of construction trench prior to building new wall demonstrated series of C16/C17 and later horizons and features but nothing earlier, suggesting truncation of early deposits and rapid build up of soil to present level.

A farmhouse of 18th century date comprising a two storey red brick building with a timber framed and plastered wing extension at the rear. The rear and core were possibly built earlier than the rest of the house.

1981: Metal detected finds found on beach:- three Med C14 pennies (S4), and one ampulla and a C14 French jetton.

Early Med pottery found on clay and sand surface 3-4 feet below modern surface, on Green Lane near the Post Office (S1).

Possible mislocation of Rom scatters FOS 005-007?
