Excavation identified medieval post-medieval property boundaries and some internal divisions, also pits and post-hole structures of unknown function.

Melford Hall (see PMed) on site of house which before the Dissolution belonged to the abbotts of Bury St Edmunds (S1)(S2). Monitoring found medieval remains (S5).

Medieval remains in the form of a possible pit or ditch were recorded during archaeological evaluation. The north side of the backfilled moat was intact but the south side has been heavily truncated.

August 1993: Rim sherd located within shallow feature or natural hollow infilled with pale brown/grey soil including C19/C20 brick fragments during watching brief on bungalow extension. Formerly recorded as FRK MISC

Sunken green lane leading to a former triangular area called `Tinkers' Close, which was probably the site of C13-C15 market at Lidgate (S1).

Medieval features identified via excavation consisting of ditches, gullies and small pits/postholes interpreted as being typical medieval roadside development.
