During the building of the Westley Estate by James Homes Ltd in the late 1960s/early 1970s a disused, bricklined icehouse was discovered.

Excavation identified a line of circular pits dating to the Middle Iron Age, portions of a Roman field system, a Late Saxon building and post-medieval ditches.
