Description
Monitoring was carried out during the excavatio of footings. Monitoring of the groundworks revealed no archaeological features or finds. A large modern soakaway(?) was observed to the rear of the footings, filled with loose bricks and lined with blue plastic sheeting, to a depth of 0.8m below ground level. The rest of the site consisted of 0.5m of mid-dark greyish brown silty sand garden topsoil above 0.5m of mid-dark reddish brown silty sand with occasional to moderate amounts of gravelly stone inclusions. The underlying geology of dull yellowish brown sands was encountered at approx 1m below ground level (S1).
