Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Whitton Park Residential Home, Whitton during initial ground reduction associated with the construction of an extension to the rear of one of the existing buildings. Up to 1m of material was being removed from the entire footprint of the proposed extension which truncated the natural subsoil of yellow sand and gravel by some 0.7m. Two early 20th century rubbish pits associated with a former house were encountered but no earlier features or artefacts were identified.
