Description
Monitoring revealed soil profile intact below concrete, consisting of occupation debris from which finds were collected and a cobbled surface. Two visits were made to the site to monitor the breaking up and removal of a concrete slab and the excavation of a footing trench. The site was in a small yard at the rear of the shop premises. The trench dug for a new footing was c. 1.2m deep and rand E-W 2.8, north of the rear of the shop. It cut through a number of level soil horizons (S1).
