Description
A programme of evaluation and monitoring were undertaken during refurbishment and conversion of St Peter's for use as a concert venue. A series of eight-test pits were excavated within the interior of the church, while service trenches outside the church were monitored. The test pits revealed footings from the adjacent walls and pillars and heavily disturbed graveyard deposits incorporated into the building debris. The monitoring outside the church also revealed extensive ground disturbance, with the result that it was not possible to draw any firm conclusions regarding the development of the church.
