An archaeological evaluation was undertaken as part of the design phase of planned schools re-organisation in the area. The excavation consisted of eighteen trenches which were excavated by mechanical excavator. Each trench was 1.8m wide and intended to be 30m long, although in practice some trenches were shorted. The trenches were excavated to a maximum depth of 0.6m. Features of Neolithic and Prehistoric/Roman date were identified (S1).
