Description

An archaeological excavation was carried out after a trial trench evaluation revealed features dating from the Roman to Post Medieval period. The excavation was carried out during the excavation of a building footprint. An area of 220 square meters was stripped to reveal eighteen features of Roman to Post Medieval date. The site was stripped back using a mechanical excavator. Trench sections and archaeological sections were hand cleaned and recorded. Some limited excavation of a deep well was undertaken by mechanical excavator to maximum permitted depth (S1).
