Description

Archaeological monitoring was carried out on excavations for a swimming pool, pool house and sun terrace at Gifford’s Hall. The topsoil was stripped from the whole development area to the top of a layer of boulder clay. Re-deposited clay had been spread across the entire stripped area. The pool house footings were excavated through the clay and revealed the former ground surface. A pond and ditch were identified.
