Description

The aim was to locate and establish the extent of a flint wall exposed during the construction of a base for a workshop adjacent to the vegetable garden and to identify an earthwork feature recorded on the OS map running parallel with the churchyard. A trench was dug 10.5m south of the northern brick boundary wall, extending 2m east from the western boundary hedge (and churchyard boundary) and 1.5m south however did not go down far enough to locate the wall. The depth of the trench was between 0.45-0.65m. A large post-medieval pit was recorded which may possible be evidence of a small domestic forge.
