Description
Archaeologcail evaluation carried out in advance of residential redevelopment. This phase of work follows a metal detector and fieldwalking survey in 2009 and also a geophysical survey in 2016 across c0.5ha which is one third of the c15ha site. 20 trenches were excavated. Topsoil was generally between 0.25m and 0.35m thick over the site and was very dark brownish grey clayey sandy silt with occassional to moderate amounts of mixed stones. In most trenches this overlaid a deposit of pale to mid yellow brown silty sand with occasional to moderate mixed stones (S1).
