Full Description
Area of "Old gun flint industries" defined on 6 inch record map by Rainbird Clarke (S1)(S2)(R1).
See STN 018 & 010 & 030 (?linking up to STN 030) for PMed flint mines and STN 020 for further gunflint knapping waste.
N.B. `CA' - Conservation Area.
Possible mislocation of STN 030 as nothing visible on ground (S3).
January 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
No evidence of post medieval flint mining at this location was identified on the consulted sources. However, in addition to the other nearby sites of post medieval flint mines mentioned above, see too SHER STN 182 to the immediate north of this site, where uneven ground may indicate former flint mining.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 25th January 2018.
