Summary

An area of "Old gun flint industries" was defined on a 6 inch record map by Rainbird Clarke. No evidence of post medieval flint mining was identified during a site visit, or by a survey of aerial photographs and lidar.

Full Description

Area of "Old gun flint industries" defined on 6 inch record map by Rainbird Clarke (S1)(S2)(R1).
See STN 018 & 010 & 030 (?linking up to STN 030) for PMed flint mines and STN 020 for further gunflint knapping waste.
N.B. `CA' - Conservation Area.
Possible mislocation of STN 030 as nothing visible on ground (S3).

January 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
No evidence of post medieval flint mining at this location was identified on the consulted sources. However, in addition to the other nearby sites of post medieval flint mines mentioned above, see too SHER STN 182 to the immediate north of this site, where uneven ground may indicate former flint mining.
