Summary

Coin hoard, probably in a Nene Valley pot, found ploughing in July 1872 (misprinted 1877 in (S1)) in SE corner "of the first, or most southern field of Dix's Charity land at Icklingham, turned up a few fragments of a small vase of Durobrivian pottery, together with the coins in question".

Full Description

Coin hoard, probably in a Nene Valley pot, found ploughing in July 1872 (misprinted 1877 in (S1)) in SE corner "of the first, or most southern field of Dix's Charity land at Icklingham, turned up a few fragments of a small vase of Durobrivian pottery, together with the coins in question". Probably did not exceed 400 coins, all silver & in good preservation. "The ground around ... contained many small sherds of different descriptions of pottery". Prigg lists 349 coins with emperor & mint ranging from Constantius II (AD 350-361) to Honorius (AD 395-423)(S1)(R1).
