A church is listed in Ringshall in the Domesday survey.
Isolated church of St Catherine - status rectory. Has an unbuttressed Norman W tower, original S window on ground floor. Norman slit windows in the nave, 2 on the N side. Tower was completed and remodelled c 1300. Arch towards nave with triple chamfering. Simple S doorway and chancel's S doorway of same time. Rough nave roof with tie beams which are uncommonly low and go through walls, crown-posts and two-way struts. Dec chancel E window and Dec timber S porch. In the chancel hammerbeam roof with arched braces to collar-beams. Braces are carved. C13 Font, Purbeck marble, octagonal. Wall paintings said to be of the seven acts of mercy (S1)(S2).
