Full Description
A church is recorded at Brightwell in the Domesday survey.
Church of St John the Baptist. Nave & chancel of circa 1300. Said to have been `almost ruined' in C17 when `repaired by Thomas Essington' (R1) of Brightwell Hall (see BGL 028), in circa 1656. Details in (S1)(S2).
