A church is recorded at Burgh in the Domesday Survey.
Church of St Botolph. Consists of chancel, nave, S porch, tower (S of nave). Details in (S1)(S2).
Said to have been the resting place of St Botolph's body prior to its removal to Bury Abbey - note Thetford type ware from 1975 excavations of IA double ditched enclosure & Rom site - see BUG 002.
