Full Description

May 1993: Two trial trenches with a total length of 97.5m were machine dug in advance of a development. Up to 1m of soil was removed to expose the subsoil surface and at this level a number of archaeological features were observed. Two of these contained ESax pottery and, in the case of NDM 008: 0002, loomweights.
Further excavation in May & June revealed two enclosure ditches, two pits and a sunken featured building containing domestic debris. Excavation was carried out only along the roadline (S1). Details in (S2).
