A church (plus 30 acres and half a plough) is recorded at Tannington in the Domesday survey of 1086.
Church of St Ethelbert. Consists of chancel, vestry, nave, S porch, W tower. Norman: N doorway. C14/C15: Main structure.
1597: `Chauncell is in great decaye'.
1643: Visited by William Dowsing.
1879: Restoration (S1).
