Full Description
April 1995: An evaluation in the area of a suspected green edge earthwork revealed an early PMed spread made up of flints, tile, chalk fragments etc . A ditch possibly of similar date was also identified. Further excavation has been recommended (S1).
1995: Excavation revealed the presence of a large crudely built structure. Limitations meant that dimensions and the exact nature of the structure could not be determined, although the construction of the wall footings were examined. The footings do not appear to be contemporary, and were crudely constructed from flint and brick, suggesting sheds or pens as opposed to a 'proper' building. Most of the pottery was C17/C18. Most small finds were PMed and domestic. Also found was a Charles II coin and 3 quern fragments (S2).
