Full Description
Series of banks in rectilinear layout. Mostly still marked as boundaries on OS maps. Originally linked to banks STN 049 to E and probably to STN 052 to W. Banks checked to S (Forestry blocks 5080 and 5084) where low, but not to N (blocks 5083 and 5079)(S1). Main elements shown on OS 1st edition map of 1824 (S2).
July 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The rectilinear arrangement of post medieval plantation banks described above is visible as earthworks on imagery from a recent lidar survey (S3). As they are depicted on readily accessible historical maps, the banks have not been mapped, but the monument polygon defining the site has been amended to accord with their location on the lidar and on the digitised Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S4).
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 7th July 2017.
