Full Description
Archaeological monitoring of construction work revealed extensive post-medieval pitting. The previous building on the site had cellars which had been backfilled with demolition debris. Many of the post-medieval pits contained post-medieval brick and tile however some of the spoil contained medieval pottery. In addition the spoil contained animal bone fragments, oyster shells, claypipe fragments of an 18th and 19th century date and post-medieval brick and tile fragments (S1).
