Full Description

Medieval urban area of Bury St Edmunds. Defined partly following town plan defined archaeological area (S1), but excluding some area of water meadows to south and east, and partly on west side by town wall (see BSE 136, 139, 179 & 181), and gates (BSE 066-069 & 064). For discussion of the Town see (S2, S3).
