Full Description

Hall House is a Grade II listed building of the 18th C. the 19th C barn to which it belongs was constructed in two phases between the years 1819 and 1842. the original structure contained 3 bays, but was extended to the west and provided with a lean-to shed and cattle yard to the south. Despite its relatively late date, the barn is of considerable historic interest, as the lean-to shed preserves extensive amounts of weatherboarding with its original red-ochre pigment - possibly the one of finest surviving example in Suffolk.

Hall Farm, Walsham-le-Willows. 19th century farmstead and 18th century farmhouse. Regular courtyard U-shaped plan formed by working agricultural buildings. The farmhouse is set away from the yard. Partial loss (less than 50%) of the traditional farm buildings. Located within a village (S2-7).

Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.
