Full Description
Large deposit of calcined flints of unknown date.
Basil Brown gives a sketch showing location of site and the following description:-
"Went to Hepworth to see the large deposit of calcined flints near the airfield. Saw the owners, Mr and Mrs Gibson, who readily gave permission to look around. Took two photographs of the site. The diameter is approximately 40 feet and worked flints were picked up" (S1).
"On a small field adjoining the main Bury St Edmunds - Scole Road owned by Mr and Mrs Gibson". Two photographs show flints scatter (S2).
2022: Excavation of burnt mound, report and archive are under SNT 090.
