Full Description

Hoard of 19 bronze 'celts's found circa 1845 claimed, in error (?), to be from Butley (see below). ? in the British Museum (S1)(R1). Further claimed to be socketed axes in (S2) although this only referencess (S1). Reference cited in (S1), i.e. (S3) relates to Poslingford (EBA) hoard. Appears to be confusion, Butley location now seems unlikely (S4).
Bronze Age hoard catalogue in BM should resolve this.
