December 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
A possible rectilinear enclosure of unknown date is visible as an earthwork (since levelled) on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2). The site has been mapped as visible in 1945 (S1), when it is clear that military vehicles have been driven across its northern side; on photographs from 1948, the banks appear more substantial, a possible southern side can be made out, and the interior seems to have been levelled. It is not clear whether this is because the enclosure is of modern date and still in use, or just differences in vegetation cover, for example. The site lies on an area of former heathland known as Church Walks, and the enclosure could relate to its use for grazing, but a military use (whether as a new construction or of a pre-existing feature) related to the adjacent searchlight battery (SUE 117) cannot be ruled out.
