Full Description

Two pits recorded during an monitoring of footing trenches for a propsed extension. A single fragment of fired clay was recovered from the larger of the two pits, suggesting a date no earlier than the
medieval period, and brick fragments bracketing the chalk floor layers indicate a postmedieval date for their use. Unfortunately no further items could be recovered from either pit and no stratigraphic relationship was discernible. The pits have been interpreted as representing domestic refuse disposal pits (S1).
