Monument record CRE 006 - Burnt mound, hollow way and quarry of unknown date, posibly a Medieval settlement.

Hollow ways, probably Med settlement. Spreads of burnt flints noted 1951 (R1).
OS (1976) suggests disused quarries. Earthworks then consisted of circular and linear depressions and associated mounds. Overgrown with weeds (S1).

The area is under rough pasture but there has been clearance to
the south for the construction of a small pheasantry. The earthworks
noted by authority 1 consist of circular and linear
depressions achieving a maximum depth of 1.6m together with
associated irregular mounds of varying shapes and profiles with
heights from 0.3m to 1.4m. No evidence of burnt material was found
but the weed grass and undergrowth are waist high and the natural
ground surface is clear in odd places only. The natural sub-soil
is sand and gravel and these are almost certainly industrial workings
being an area of early quarrying adjacent to an existing highway.
No steadings or evidence of occupation was noted and the origin
of "Chapel Hill" (OS) or "Chapel Field" (authority 1) was not
determined, (S2).
