Full Description

Near gas pipe trench - two depressions at TM 220 521 and TM 218 520, 16-17m wide and 1.4m deep; mortared flint revetting on E one. ? obliquely cut ditches/ ridge and furrow?
Two unidentified ditches. Two ditches were observed in the side of a N Sea gas trench at Grundisburgh 1974 (S1).
a) TM 220 521: A ditch 16m wide, 1.4m deep, with a complex fill of loam, flint and mortar with on the outer side, a revetment wall of mortared flint 1.1m wide. On the west side was a rampart 9m wide x 1.5m high. b) TM 218 520: Ditch 1.7m wide x 1.4m deep, filled with a heavy black loam. Romano/British and Med sherd were retrieved from the spoil heap. (No cropmark visible on air photographs.)
