Full Description
March 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
An undated linear bank, probably a former boundary, is visible as an earthwork on Leiston Common on aerial photographs and lidar images (S1)-(S3). It probably relates to the use of the common, in which case a post medieval (or medieval to post medieval) date is likely. While recent images on Google Earth, and the lidar images, suggest that the southern part of the bank has been levelled, the northern section, which lies within woodland, is visible on lidar images from 2011 suggesting that it still survives as an earthwork.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 26th March 2015.
