Summary

An area of Second World War military training is visible on aerial photographs within a clearing in Tunstall Forest. The site consists of clusters of large bomb craters and smaller detonation areas arranged in a grid pattern, like a small-scale minefield, and falls within the Orford Battle Training Area (ORF 137).

June 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
An area of Second World War military training is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) within a clearing in Tunstall Forest. The site consists of clusters of large bomb craters and smaller detonation areas arranged in a grid pattern, like a small-scale minefield, and falls within the Orford Battle Training Area (ORF 137). The site is mostly now levelled.
