Full Description
April 2009: Archaeological monitoring on service trenches revealed buried occupation deposits at a depth of 0.35m-0.5m below the ground surface. A ditch running E-W cut across the line of the trench and is aligned with the front of the Abbey Building. The ditch measured 1.8m wide and measured at over 1m deep. A second trench revealed a 4.5m wide undated N-S ditch/feature. The exact area these two trenches covered is unclear but it is likely that they are positioned in the meadow south of Abbey Hall Barn and west of the priory (S1).
