Monument record STN 127 - Probable post medieval plantation bank

Please read our .

Summary

A probable post medieval plantation bank is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015. Its horseshoe shape suggests it once defined a small, oval plantation, similar to those depicted on historical Ordnance Survey maps. In this case the plantation is not shown on any maps consulted to date, and appears to have been truncated by a forest ride and the Brandon road.

Full Description

A probable post medieval plantation bank is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S1). Its horseshoe shape suggests it once defined a small, oval plantation, similar to those depicted in the surrounding area on historical Ordnance Survey maps. In this case the plantation is not shown on any maps consulted to date (such as the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map S2), and appears to have been truncated by a forest ride and the Brandon road.
