Full Description
Colston Hall is a farmstead visible on the 1st Ed OS map and the Badingham tithe map. Hodskinson also notes a Colston Hall on his map of 1783. While the buildings isn't listed the website for the business run out of the farmstead indicates it is a 16th century farmhouse. The farmstead is laid out in a U-plan courtyard with a smaller E-plan courtyard and additional detached elements. The farmstead seems to have survived largely intact with some modern conversion to allow it to be used as a Bed and Breakfast. It is set alongside a private track.
Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.
