Full Description

Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.

Taken from NRHE record:
Elm Hall good, well-restored, timber-framed house of the 15th- 16th cent. with brick-nogging.

As described, but modernised and not now outstanding. To the north and east of the house are the probable remains of a moat. The arms, cut into a gentle N slope, avrage 6.0m wide, and according to the owner formerly existed to the S of the house but have been destroyed by garden landscaping, TL78545169.
