Full Description
Tittle Hall is a farmstead visible on the 1st Ed Os map. The farmstead is laid out in a regular full-plan with additional detached elements. The farmhouse is detached and set away from the yard. The farmstead sits alongside a public road in an isolated location. All worknig buildings have been lost with modern sheds on site. The farmhouse has been divided and converted to two dwellings. (S1-4)
Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.
Taken from NRHE record:
(TL 8167 5035) Tittle Hall (NR) (site of)
The site of an old house, the remains of which were taken down in 1876. No information can be found relating to this old building.
No information can be found relating to the Hall and there are no surface indications. The remains of a moat can be seen to the SE of Tittle Hall at TL 81685033. This consists of a water-filled arm of a moat and is now used as a duck pond. In fair condition and is correctly shown on OS 6".
No traces of the former house was seen at the published site. The pondseen by F1 has been destroyed by tipping, and the remaining pond, a part waterfilled ditch to the north of the site cannot now be identified as the remains of a moat.
