Monument record COW 069 - Cropmarks of a possible large irregular sub-rectangular enclosure of uncertain date

Cropmarks of a possible large irregular sub-rectangular enclosure of uncertain date visible on aerial photographs in a large field to the north-west of Erratt's Farm at TL 7163 5518. The partial enclosure can be seen as two perpendicular ditched sides with two rounded courners and part of a third side. It lies in a large arable field with the cropmark traces of more modern cultivation patterns, former field boundaries noted on the 1st edition OS maps and modern drainage (S1).

Cropmarks of a possible large irregular sub-rectangular or curvilinear enclosure, of an uncertain date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). Although the date of the features is uncertain, a Bronze Age to Iron Age date is possible. Fragmented sections of ditch are also visible in the west of the area. It is possible that the mapped ditches in the west of the area may relate to the enclosure or may relate to modern agricultural features, also visible as cropmarks across the area on S1.
