1764 wreck of English cargo vessel which stranded at Lowestoft en route from Newcastle-upon-Tyne for London with coal; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`...from Newcastle for London, is lost near Leostoffe.' (2)

`Yarmouth, February 16. On Saturday ran ashore at Lowestoff, the NORWICH of Yarmouth, William Barnes, master, burthen 200 tons, laden with coals from Newcastle for London, the ship is since wrecked and the cargo all lost.' (4)

Source (5), dated from Newcastle 25th February and indicating the date of loss as "Saturday se'nnight", is otherwise identical with (4).

Source (3) expresses the date of loss as a reporting date of 03-FEB-1764. Sources (4) and (5) indicate the date of loss as 11-FEB-1764.
