1816 wreck of English cargo vessel which foundered after grounding on the Holm Sand en route from London to Shields in ballast; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`The BETSEY, Chamberlain, from London to Shields (in ballast) sunk on the Home Sand 12th inst. Crew and stores saved.' (1)

`The BETSEY, Chamberlain, from London to Shields, struck on the Home Sand, on the 12th inst., and has since sunk in deep water. Crew and materials saved.' (2)

`The BETSEY, of North Shields, Henry Chambers, in ballast, was lost on the Home Sand, Lowestoff, 9th inst. Crew saved.' (3)
