1792 wreck of English cargo vessel which stranded at Kirkley en route from Hamburg to Barcelona with wheat; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`The HOPE, Hanson, from Hamburg to Barcelona, is on shore near Lowestof [sic], and full of water.' (1)

`The HOPE, Hemson, from Hamburg to Barcelona, is on shore near Yarmouth.' (2)

`On the 3d inst. in the night, the HOPE, of Starcross, Tho. Hemson master, laden with wheat from Hamburgh, and bound for Barcelona, was driven ashore at Kirkley in Suffolk; the ship is much strained - great part of the cargo is likely to be saved.' (4)
