Full Description

Small pit, diameter 3 feet, depth 2 feet 4 inches?. Found in excavation of 25 x 10 foot area, cut into chalky boulder clay below circa 2 feet of red loam. Contained: 4 sherds Beaker, 30 sherds rusticated ware, 1 scraper, flakes, 10 fragments human cranium, patchily charred. Excavator suggested ritual deposit. Unstratified small flint adze. Edwardson also notes these as finds "in pit at 5 foot' (S4). Note different date of discovery for Rom finds. For more information see (S5).
