Full Description

Silver coin of Beonna, King of East Anglia (circa AD 760). Sold (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S1). Obv - runic inscription reading 'BEONNA REX' round a central pellet; Rev - interlace decoration in the rough form of an 'H' with 3 pellets in each quarter. Weight 1 gram.
Found on the surface of a cottage garden near the church by the late father-in-law of the enquirer (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s). Examined by Marian Archibald of the British Museum. Further information and correspondence in Moyses Hall Museum. Coin now believed to be in Leeds Museum (S2) (S3).
This find was later put on the HER again as BAR 028 and appears as such in (S3), but should be referred to as BAR 004.
