Kiln sites In field belonging to Hindle Farm.
Pottery and wrappings from kilns.
Sherd Samian form 37 (S2)(R2).
? Also iron ring from kiln site (S3) and blue glass bead found on site after ploughing by B Brown at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S4).
Roman settlement (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), ? road (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) and kilns. On B Brown map area at kilns etc marked in area centreing on (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S1). See also HEP 002, which possibly refers to same site. Comparable to SNT 002/HEP 003.
c.1952: Farmer, Mr Barney Rumbelow, of Grange Farm, buried tree roots under Wood Lane in dip in land towards east end. He found at about six foot depth loads of Roman pots etc (S9).
January 1986 : Two Rom rims and sixteen sherds found fieldwalking by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S6).
1987: Thirteen coins found, with a metal detector, scattered across a field. One ? Faustina I or II (v. worn), one Allectus, one Maximian, rest C4 (S7).
1995: `A few coins in poor condition (C2-C3)', metal detected (S8).
