Full Description

Middle Saxon Occupation on Chequer Meadow (S3).
Circa 1953: Coin of Trajan from TL 7794 8653, found by H Adams, 2 Town Street, Brandon (S1)(R1). Formerly recorded as BRD 015.
Pre 1977: Material collected fieldwalking by Brandon History Society, from molehills etc, included 8 Rom coarse ware sherds (S2).
1980-1988: Further Rom finds located during excavation of MSax site, include coins, pottery & tile, the great majority of which appears to relate to Saxon rather than Rom occupation, i.e. Rom tiles used in Sax hearths etc. Details in excavation archive (R2).
Excavation ongoing in 1988.
Full report expected 2013.
